Since I have quit my job, I haven't had access to internet regularly, so I'm a bit behind on blogging. We are currently in the process of trying to get internet, but since I'm so cheap and so few places provide internet to the boonies of Medina, it might be awhile :) So here's some catching up on Aiden and the family:
December 1st was Brandon's birthday and he had the day off work, so I took a half day to be able to celebrate his birthday with him and we enjoyed spending some extra time together. I made him the most chocolate of chocolate cakes that has been nicknamed "The Death Cake". It has been nicknamed as such because you feel like you're going to die while you eat it, it's so rich. For Brandon's birthday dinner he decided he wanted to go to Longhorn and get filet mignon, which, of course, I happily agreed to. His parents also came to visit over the weekend and it was nice for Brandon to get to see them close to his birthday.
Brandon said the best thing that he got to do for his birthday was hear the baby's heartbeat by putting his ear up to my belly. We had just read that it was possible to hear the heartbeat starting in week 25 and he was so excited to be able to hear it! It's special too because it's something that he can experience that I can't.
During week 26 of pregnancy, Aiden was about 14 inches long and weighed about 1 1/2 pounds. He was about the size of an English cucumber. He started taking practice breaths of amniotic fluid, which is preparing him for his first breath. His eyes were forming and he also has eyelashes now.
During weeks 27 and 28 his brain was continuing to develop, he started blinking, and he is sleeping at regular intervals now.
As of this week, week 29, Aiden now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds, is about 15 inches long and is about the size of a butternut squash. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and his head is growing to support his developing brain. He is so active these days and it's really fun to notice when he's kicking and moving around. The day I had my glucose test, he was active all day long and then really quiet the next day. If I play the Just Dance game on the Wii, he is really active after I'm done dancing. Also, if I play music and especially if I sing along to it, he kicks a lot. We like to say he's going to be good at sports and music, like his Daddy :)
We also had a busy, but fun Christmas and enjoyed spending some time together just the two of us, since it will be our last quiet Christmas!

Pregnancy Week 25
Week 25! Only 15 more weeks to go!
This week Aiden is about 13 1/2 inches long, weighs around a pound and a half and is about the size of an eggplant. He's getting a sense of equilibrium and now knows which way is up and down. He's continuing to put on more fat and grow more hair. This week Brandon has started reading stories to Aiden at night right before we go to bed. On Sunday night when Brandon was reading to him, Aiden was kicking, like he was excited to hear Brandon's voice. It was the sweetest thing.
I'm approaching the third trimester and it seems like it's gone by so fast. It's getting harder to sleep and I'm starting to lose some of that wonderful second trimester energy. But the closer I am to the third trimester means I'm getting closer to meeting my sweet baby boy!
Last week we had a great Thanksgiving. Poor Brandon had to work crazy hours because of black Friday, but he made it through! On Thanksgiving day we went to my Grandmother's for lunch and had a great time seeing our family and talking about Aiden. It's fun to think about next year when we will have an 8 month old baby with us for Thanksgiving. On Friday I went shopping with my Mom and we got some great deals. I also scored us a video camera online at Kohl's without having to deal with the crazy crowds! Then over the weekend we put up the tree and decorated some for Christmas.
In other exciting news, last Friday I turned in my resignation and announced my last day will be next Friday, December 16!

Pregnancy Week 24
This post is a little bit late, but better late than never...
I had another ultrasound last Tuesday and we got to see our sweet baby boy again. Once again, he was quite the exhibitionist and pretty stubborn, too. He was in a comfortable spot and didn't want to move and the woman doing the ultrasound finally got him to move around by poking and prodding him. After she got all the measurments she needed, she looked around a little bit more and got the funniest shot of him basically mooning us with his legs spread out showing off his boy parts. She said we have a contrary little son and Brandon and I both at the same time said, "That's your son." Haha. The best part about the doctor's appointment was hearing my doctor say everything looked great, Aiden is measuring exactly where he's supposed to be, I'm measuring exactly where I'm supposed to be and I'm "boringly normal." She also wrote me a prescription for acid reflux and it works like a miracle! I've been eating pizza and Mexican again. Yay!
This week Aiden weighs a pound and a half! He has now reached the point of viability which is an exciting milestone to reach. He is almost a foot long, about the length of an ear of corn. He will be starting to plump up soon and look more like a newborn. His brain is growing quickly now and his taste buds are continuing to develop.
This week I was getting together all the stuff we have for Aiden and I quickly realized after seeing it all in one pile, that we have a lot of clothes! We have found some things on clearance for next winter and some cute little hats that we couldn't resist buying.
We also finished registering for all of our smaller stuff at Target and Wal-Mart. It makes it even more exciting looking forward to having Aiden when we look at all of the little stuff we would be using for him, like bath toys and cute little socks and tiny little onesies.

Pregnancy Week 23
We had such an exciting trip to Babies R Us! It was so fun to pick out all of our big items. We picked out some really cute stuff that I'm so excited to be getting. We also got a great deal on our furniture. We got a total of 30% off and saved over $200.
This week Aiden is the size of a mango or papaya, weighs just over a pound and is 11 inches long. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing and he is able to hear more clearly.
The coolest thing Aiden is doing this week is developing the ability to remember things. How awesome is that? I was blown away when I read that this week. He also is gaining control over his movements instead of just little muscle jerks and spasms.
It's still amazing to us to learn what development takes place each week and to see what God is doing in forming our son.
I have another ultrasound on Tuesday and can't wait to see Aiden again and see what's he's doing in there!
It's now less than four months until my due date and now that we have the nursery furniture it's getting harder to wait to meet him!
Coming soon to the blog: ultrasound pictures!

Pregnancy Week 22
This week has been exciting! I've been feeling Aiden's little kicks more and more strongly and I am starting to notice a pattern to them. I like to say he's practicing his karate in there :) Brandon even felt a couple of good kicks last night. The look on his face when he gets to feel a kick is priceless.
It's hard to describe the different emotions I'm experiencing. Before I've even met Aiden, I'm proud of him. All he is doing is growing, yet I can't deny this strange sense of pride in our son already. And I already feel so much love for him that I can't imagine loving him more, but I know I will. I also feel such a protectiveness of him.
This week Aiden is the size of a papaya or spaghetti squash. He is 11 inches long and weighs almost 1 pound! He is starting to look more like a newborn; he now has tiny tooth buds developing and his eyebrows and eyelids are becoming more distinct. He's also starting to develop sleep cycles and sleeps about 12-14 hours a day.
I am so looking forward to this weekend! Brandon was supposed to work, but he's using a vacation day so we can go get nursery furniture and register at Babies R Us! I am so excited because this is one of the things I've looked forward to for a long time. I can't wait to pick out cute little boy stuff and strollers and everything!

Pregnancy - Week 21
Week 21 of Pregnancy! It feels crazy that I'm now over halfway through my pregnancy. It really has flown by. It has been such a special time in our lives. Finding out we're having a son last week makes it more real, in both an exciting and slightly scary way. Before we knew it was a boy, we were having a baby. Babies are cute and fun. Now we're having a son and that implies raising another human being and that's slightly scary :) It's also super exciting because now we can picture Brandon teaching our son all kinds of manly things like sports and imagining the kind of man he'll grow up to be.
On Monday for Halloween, I dressed up as a Bun in the oven Bakery worker and won third place at my work costume contest. It was cute and I had fun, too.
More exciting things coming soon, we are going to Memphis next weekend to buy our nursery furniture. And Babies R Us is having a sale on nursery furniture, so we're going to save over $100! I'm so glad to finally be working on the nursery a little. I know I have plenty of time, but I'm such a planner, I want to have everything perfect long before Aiden arrives.
This week Aiden is about the size of a banana and is 10 1/2 inches long and weighs around 12 ounces. He now has eyebrows and eyelids. I've been feeling more movements and I've noticed that he's more active after I eat. It's so cool to be able to really be able to feel him kicking!

It's A...
BOY!!! We found out yesterday that we are having a boy! I was right all along! We are so excited. We both wanted a boy and can’t believe we actually got exactly what we wanted. The first thing was saw on the ultrasound was that he is definitely a boy, haha! Then we saw him moving around and wiggling a lot. At one point he had his legs all the way over his body with his toes almost touching his forehead. The ultrasound tech said, "You’ve got a little monkey in there!" She took measurements of everything but the head because by the time she was going to measure the head, he had settled down with his head towards my back and would not budge. I was like, "He’s stubborn just like his Daddy!" So I get to have an extra ultrasound in a month to measure the head. :) Everything they measured looked great and I’m still measuring exactly where I’m supposed to. It’s so great being able to call our baby a "he" now!
This week the baby is the length of a banana, about 10 inches long and weighs about 10 ½ ounces, about the size of a cantaloupe and he now has working taste buds. I’ve finally been able to feel little bitty kicks here and there too!
One of my new crazy symptoms is I really have "pregnancy brain" these days. I have all these weird thoughts and apparently sing without noticing. The other day Brandon and I were in the car on the way to church and he asks me what song I was singing while I was drying my hair. I had no idea I had even been singing! I was like oh no, I’m singing and don’t even realize it! Brandon says I’m singing because I’m full of joy. Awww, sweet.

Pregnancy Week 19
It’s time again for the weekly baby update! This week the baby is the size of a mango, weighs 8 ½ ounces and is 6 inches long. Nerve cells in the brain are designating areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. The baby’s hair is also starting to sprout. It still amazes me almost every week how much the baby grows and changes all the time and that there’s actually a little person growing inside of me. I know I still have a while to go, but I can’t wait to see our baby!
Symptoms (New and Continued): This week I’ve really started to experience the hip pain that comes with pregnancy. My body pillow helps some and so does walking. I’m still having heartburn and some allergy/sinus issues, but they seem to be improving. I’m also starting to forget a lot of little things and have to keep telling people "You’ll have to remind me." Brandon has to help me put my socks on every once in a while because my belly is just starting to get in the way.
Hormones are starting to get kinda crazy. When I was around 5 or 6 weeks pregnant my hormones were crazy because of the rush of hormones early on, but they had calmed down for a while. I’m starting to cry at everything these days. Last week, my aunt offered to buy me a diaper bag and I went to the bathroom at work and cried because it was so sweet of her to do that for me.
I am amazed at this time in our lives. I feel like the happily ever after princess who has everything she’s ever wanted. I know that raising our baby and all that comes with it will be harder than I can even imagine, but I also know what a time of joy it will be to watch our child grow up.

Pregnancy Week 18
Well this week I am in my 18th week of pregnancy. I can’t believe that in less than 2 weeks, I’ll be halfway through my pregnancy. That just sounds crazy to me! And I can see a little fear come into Brandon’s eyes when I tell him that. Of course, he’s super excited, but at times it’s definitely overwhelming to know that we’ll be parents very soon!
This week the baby is the size of a sweet potato or a bell pepper depending on what website I go with. The baby can now yawn, hiccup, suck, and swallow. The baby is 5 ½ inches long and weighs about 7 ounces. I also read the baby is doing somersaults in there, but I still haven’t felt any movement yet. I'm dying to feel something, hopefully I will soon!
We decided on which hospital to have the baby at and we are going with Jackson General. It is the bigger hospital in town and I feel safer there, just in case something were to go wrong.
My belly has really poked out the last couple of weeks. I think most of the time now I look pregnant instead of just chubby or like I ate too much the last meal, haha.
We decided what furniture we want to get for the nursery and we’ll be going to Memphis in the next couple of weeks to order it from Babies R Us. And I’m hoping I’ll be able to finally decide on what theme I want to go with. I’ve been back and forth on so many different things and I’m thinking that once we know if it’s a boy or girl, I should be able to decide a little easier. Speaking of which, it’s only 2 weeks from today that we find out!

Our Weekend Trips
So last Wednesday night Brandon and I left town as quick as we could to get on the road to Gatlinburg! After many bathroom breaks we finally got there around 2 a.m. It was nice to get there and visit with his parents a little before we crashed. The next day we all slept late and went to Pancake Pantry for a delicious breakfast. It is the best place in the whole world to eat breakfast, seriously. After that we decided to stroll down the strip and go to the Ripley’s Aquarium. The aquarium in Gatlinburg holds a special place in my heart because six years ago, Brandon took me there for the first time and proposed to me later that evening. It was fun to be able to visit it again with him and his parents and a baby on the way. We enjoyed talking about going back to Gatlinburg next year with the baby. It was such a relaxing day and then we went to dinner at The Peddler, which is also special to me because that’s where Brandon took me to dinner before he proposed. On Friday we had to check out of the condo but we still spent the day in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge walking around and shopping. That night we went to Brandon’s parents’ house in Knoxville and spent the night Friday and Saturday. Saturday we watched some football games and it was a terrible day for Texas and Tennessee fans! On Sunday we got up early so we could get an early start heading home. On the way out of town we had lunch with his parents and his Mom took me to Motherhood Maternity and I just love that store. It’s always a treat to go because the people that work there are always so helpful and really nice and we don’t have one in Jackson. I found some really cute stuff for the fall and some tops that will work for now and later. It was a fun and relaxing way to spend a long weekend together.

Pregnancy - Week 17
Last Saturday I went to Camden and had a great visit with my Mom, Aunt, and Grandmother. We basically talked all day. I had a great time talking about babies with the women in my family. It makes me even more excited to make my Mom a Grandmother, my Grandmother a great Grandmother, and my Aunt a great Aunt.
This week the baby is the size of an onion, the skeleton is changing from cartilage to bone and the baby weighs 5 ounces and is 5 inches long. It’s now only 3 weeks and 1 day until we find out if it’s a boy or girl and we can NOT wait!! Several people have told us they think it’s a girl, but I keep thinking it’s a boy because Brandon’s mom went through a lot of the stuff I’m going through, (like heartburn and being so hot all the time!) which leads me to believe it’s Brandon’s son in there giving me problems! :)
Last Thursday I had a doctor’s appointment for a regular checkup. My blood pressure is exactly where it’s supposed to be, which is good to hear because Brandon worries about my blood pressure because I add salt to everything :) I also am measuring exactly where I’m supposed to be. We got to hear the heartbeat again and this time my doctor was able to find it faster and we heard it beating stronger than ever!
I’m starting to be hungry all the time and having trouble sleeping. Last week I ordered a pregnancy body pillow because I had a gift card from my very thoughtful mother in law and I’ve been trying it out this week. It helps a little bit with the hip pain that comes with having to sleep on one side all night. I also got a bella band over the weekend and have tried it out a couple of times. It’s great and I wonder why I didn’t try it before. It’s a band that goes over regular pants and holds them up and turns them into instant maternity pants. It’s like magic!
Tonight, Brandon and I are heading to Gatlinburg to spend a long weekend with his parents. We haven’t been to Gatlinburg together since we got engaged over 6 years ago. We’re looking forward to lots of sleeping late, good food, mini golf and spending time with his parents.

Pregnancy - Week 16
Well I’ve finally decided to join the world of blogging! I wanted to be able to keep all our family and friends that are spread out around the state and country updated with the pregnancy and then the baby. So here a few updates:
I am in my sixteenth week of pregnancy and I am in the 2nd trimester! This is exciting because it means the risk of miscarriage has gone way down, I will get to feel the baby kicking soon, and in 4 weeks we get to find out the gender of the baby! So far, I’ve been blessed to not have any morning sickness and since I’ve made it this far without having any, I probably won’t ever have any. I have had a lot of heartburn, though. But I will take heartburn over morning sickness!
We had a small scare when I was about 6 weeks along, so we had an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay and it was fine. It was such a weird mix of emotions to see a little wiggly thing on a screen and to know that’s a baby growing inside of me! Brandon cried a little bit and I did a combination of laughing and crying. We have also gotten to hear the baby’s heartbeat several times now and it is just the coolest thing!
This week we are in the process of trying to decide which hospital to go to. There are pros and cons to each and it is a big decision. Last Friday we had a tour of the labor and delivery floor at each so we had a better idea of what to expect at each hospital, but we're still unsure which one to go with. It was exciting to visit the hospitals but it also made it more real.
At 16 weeks the baby is about the size of an avocado, is 4 ½ inches long, and weighs 3½ ounces. The baby’s legs are growing longer than the arms now and can move all its joints and limbs. Its eyelids are still closed but it can sense light. This week the baby has started growing toenails. It’s amazing how God orchestrates the development of such a tiny person. It’s been fascinating learning how much our baby grows each week. We are so excited for this new and exciting chapter in our lives and will continue to update you on the baby’s progress!
